 I’ve long said that I’ll pretty much believe any rumor, any conspiracy theory, any random piece of gossip about Tom Cruise. I’m like that with some people - I’ll believe anything about Tom’s ex, Nicole Kidman, I’ll believe anything about Gwyneth Paltrow, and I’ll totally believe anything about John Travolta. So, given that, I’m buying this story from OK! Magazine. According to their source, an alleged “family insider,” Tom Cruise added $5 million to his daughter Suri’s already multi-million trust fund, all to celebrate her fifth birthday. I guess Suri is regretting that late-night temper tantrum, huh?

    Katie Holmes and Tom Cruise have been making the effort to cut back on spoiling Suri, but for her fifth birthday, Tom’s gift was over the top!

    “Tom decided to add $5 million - in honor of her milestone birthday - to Suri’s trust fund,” a family insider tells OK! Magazine. “She already has several millions in the fund.” The sentiment is practical: her parents are putting much aside for her future and Suri “won’t be able to touch the money until she’s 18,” the insider reveals. But the amount is extravagant - even by Hollywood standards.

Now, of course, Gossip Cop got a denial from Tom’s rep. But that doesn’t mean much to me because I’ll believe anything about Tom, and this story seems reasonable, plausible and in character from what I know of Tom. I tend to believe that Tom probably has set up trust funds for all of his kids, including Suri, and that the amounts are probably staggering (to me). But here’s what I’m wondering: do you think the kids get access to the money when they turn 18? I doubt it’s that simple, especially considering Bella, Connor and Suri were and are being raised in Church of Scientology. I bet the trusts have, like, “Xenu Provisional Clause #4: The Wearing of Lifts” and “The Miscavage Addendum: Toupees and Other Sundries.”

By the way, the photos of sleepy Suri and blue-sweater Tom are new. They were taken the day after Suri’s late night on Broadway. Her sleep schedule is all kinds of screwed up.

Tom Cruise’s Len Grossman comedy/horror film is definitely happening

Just a few years ago, Tom Cruise and his big fat mouth landed his previously stellar box-office career in the bottom of the gutter. He needed some serious help and, thanks to Ben Stiller, found a bit of a reprieve through a very uncharacteristic cameo in 2008’s Tropic Thunder. Ever since then, we’ve been hearing rumors of a feature-length spinoff with an update last summer that Cruise would star within and produce the Official Les Grossman movie. Now, we’re hearing via MTV that there’s actually a script for this ill-fated mess:

    The 2008 comedy smash Tropic Thunder spawned some memorable characters, to say the least. From Robert Downey Jr.’s very method actor Kirk Lazarus to Jack Black’s drug-fueled Jeff Portnoy, there could have been any number of characters from the film that earned their own spin-off movie.

    Of course, since no one in the industry has quite the same pull as Tropic Thunder’s sleazy, rap enthusiast movie honcho Les Grossman (played by a transformed Tom Cruise), there’s no surprise that it’s him.

    When MTV News caught up with “Saturday Night Live” funny man Bill Hader at the first-ever Comedy Awards (which air Sunday, April 10 at 8p.m. on Comedy Central, VH1, Spike TV, Logo, CMT, TVLand, and online at thecomedyawards.com) he told us that the Les movie is written and is getting closer to arriving in theaters.

    Hader, who appeared in a few Les Grossman skits in anticipation for the 2010 MTV Movie Awards, confirmed that his friend, actor/writer Michael Bacall (who previously penned Scott Pilgrim vs. the World and is currently working on the upcoming remake of Fright Night) “wrote it and he’s told me some really funny scenes from it.”

    While Hader admitted he was vague on the details of what the plot for the movie based on Cruise’s loud, boorish exec would actually be about (”I just know the broad strokes. Michael just telling me, ‘I just wrote this scene where blah, blah, blah and I’m like, ‘Oh, that’s funny, man!’”) or when it would finally make it to theaters (Cruise will be busy with Rock of Ages soon) he was sure of one thing, “It’s gonna be great.”

Admittedly, the very idea of Les Grossman as portrayed Tom Cruise was originally an amusing one because the cameo conveniently took place at a point when Cruise was best known for sticking his finger in Matt Lauer’s face and refusing to make fun of himself in any capacity. As Grossman, Cruise did the unthinkable by putting on a fat suit and showing off some disgustingly hilarious raunchy dance moves. Still, will anyone pay to watch the Grossman character for a full 90 minutes onscreen? After all, we’ve already witnessed Cruise losing a bit of his seriousness by aping his own persona in Knight and Day, and that wasn’t exactly the box-office smash it was expected to be.

Nonetheless, SlashFilm attempts to make the case that Cruise’s career doesn’t really need this spinoff movie like it did just a few years ago, but I’m not quite understanding the logic there. What has Tom Cruise done since Lions for Lambs (which lost many tens of millions), Valkyrie (which financially underperformed to a lesser degree), and Knight and Day (which did not return Cruise to the top of the pack either)? Nothing. He desperately needs a hit to keep building underground bunkers at his Telluride mountain estate and still allow Katie to continue poorly dressing herself in ridiculously expensive capri pants. Furthermore, Tom just needs to put a movie out there, like, now to would take the focus off the P-E-N-I-S Gummies. Luckily (or not), Cruise is gearing up to star in the film adaptation of Broadway’s Rock of Ages musical, which arrives with the following synopsis:

    Rock of Ages is set in 1987 on the Sunset Strip, where a small town girl meets a big city rocker in L.A.’s most famous rock club. Their love story is told through the hits of Journey, Bon Jovi, Styx, Pat Benatar, Foreigner, Twisted Sister, Asia, Whitesnake and many more.

During its continuing Broadway run, the musical has enjoyed five Tony nominations and, from what I gathered last fall after being forced to cross the street to avoid a huge audience in waiting, is quite popular with New York City tourists. Again, do we really want to see Tom Cruise rocking out to Twisted Sister? It gets even weirder from there. While Russell Brand might have actually found his dream role (he’s been confirmed for the role of club owner Lonny, who reportedly performs a rendition of REO Speedwagon’s “Can’t Fight This Feeling,”), other possible but unconfirmed members of the cast include names like Taylor Swift and Gwyneth Paltrow. That’s the stuff of horror movies!

As a side note on the Les Grossman project and for those who aren’t familiar with Michael Bacall, he’s not only a screenwriter but an actor who played one of the (non-speaking) members of Brad Pitt’s crew in Inglourious Basterds and also had a small role in Quentin Tarantino’s Death Proof as well. I don’t doubt that he’s perfectly capable of putting together a “funny” script, but based upon the character of Les Grossman, more is usually less.

I think Tom Cruise has finally finished filming Mission Impossible IV: Ghost Protocol, and he and Katie Holmes have finally been reunited, at long last. These are new photos of Tom, Katie and Suri out and about in NYC yesterday. Tom put on his favorite high heels and posed his ass off all day and night - seriously, they got pap’d like five different times, at five different locations.

The photos of Katie and Tom with Suri - who is making faces at the paparazzi - are from their exit of a theatre where they had just taken Suri to see American Idiot, that Broadway show with music from Green Day. Because Suri likes nothing better than spending her New York nights taking in Broadway shows and accompanying her mom to late-night dinners of Gummi penises and “c-ckblockers”. Why not just let the kid get a good night’s sleep?

Tom Cruise to Play 'Rock n' Roll God' in New Movie

 Tom Cruise has signed up to play aging musician Stacee Jaxx in the big screen adaption of the hit musical Rock of Ages, and director Adam Shankman is sure his performance is going to impress everyone.

The actor has been taking voice lessons for his role and has been studying the '80s rock songs in the musical to make sure he gets everything right.

Adam told Access Hollywood: “I think we’re going to see him every drop the rock ‘n’ roll god! I’m very excited. He’s so committed to doing it. He’s pouring himself in this part in a way I’ve never had an actor do … it’s pretty intense.”

Tom Cruise will have to perform several songs in the film, including Styx’s "Renegade," Bon Jovi’s "Wanted Dead or Alive" and a duet of Foreigner’s "I Want To Know What Love Is," possibly with Anne Hathaway, who is set to play the character Sherrie.

Shankman also confirmed rumors Russell Brand is in talks to join the cast as Lonny, the manager of The Bourbon rock club, while Alec Baldwin is set to play Lonny’s boss Dennis.

He added: “We are talking to Alec Baldwin and there may be some Russell Brand. I can only say at this point that there may be, because the deals aren’t closed.”

It looks like Tom Cruise may have already lined up his next gig once he’s done filming ‘Mission Impossible 4,’ if E! News’ Marc Malkin’s story is accurate. The director of the film adaptation of the musical ‘Rock of Ages’ told Marc Tom is in talks to join the movie.

“It’s all looking really good,” ['Rock of Ages' director] Shankman just told me…
“I was really inspired and impressed by him as Les Grossman,” he said, “and his willingness to go for it. He and I had talked about doing a musical, so I thought I’d talk to him about Rock of Ages.”

And, yes, Cruise will sing. “Of course, he will,’ Shankman said. “If he’s in it, he has to.”

“Top Gun 2” On the Way?

One of the most iconic films of the 1980s was “Top Gun,” and now it seems a sequel is in the works.
According to a report, “Top Gun 2” is being considered, with Paramount Pictures beginning to assemble a production team.

The studio has extended an offer to Jerry Bruckheimer to produce the project, and director Tony Scott is also being courted to sign on.

As for the original “Top Gun” Tom Cruise, he’s said to be on board to reprise his role as Maverick in a small appearance. (Hollywood Gossip)

Tom Cruise Is Immune To The Criticism

Tom Cruise has been in this business long enough. He knows that no matter what he says or does, show business will always find some way to try and tear him down. Speaking of his lengthy acting career, Tom says,

"I've heard so many things, going back to 'Top Gun' and 'Rain Man' and 'Born on the Fourth of July' - 'He's not going to make another movie', 'He's just a teen idol', 'It's going to destroy his career'. People are going to say whatever they're going to say. I've read it and seen it all before. That's just the way it is. What are you going to do?
"All I can think about is making the movie at hand and doing the best I can and enjoying it."

That's a great attitude, though I'm ignoring the critics is easier said than done.
Tom also mentions that Knight and Day was a particularly challenging movie to work on.

"It requires a tremendous amount of skill. You have comedy, drama and action and it's very dynamic so it's actually four times the workload. Action movies are difficult and this has everything I love in movies. We did everything we could to make it non-stop, unpredictable fun."

Happy 48th Birthday, Tom Cruise!

Happy birthday to Tom Cruise, who is kind of the man.

Yes, he jumps on couches, gets married a lot and shares opinions on political and social issues that many would consider out of the mainstream. We know this.

But what's really wrong with the guy? He's been one of Hollywood's biggest stars for almost three decades and for all the weirdness, is basically harmless.

He's fun, makes cool movies and seems to care most about being a good husband to Katie Holmes and a good dad to kids Isabella, Connor and little Suri.

What more can you ask for, really?

Tom Cruise is 48 years old today. Man, has the actor ever aged well ... in reality, he looks nothing like his hilarious, middle-aged alter ego Les Grossman!

From Risky Business to A Few Good Men, the Mission: Impossible series, Tropic Thunder and Knight and Day, he's been one of the most successful stars ever.

For good reason.
